I'm not sure about him taking over as Chairman of the RNC, but he should still be politically active and work for conservative causes to prove that he really is a conservative. That way there'll be no doubt that he's on the Right in 2012.

I think he could do a lot of good at the RNC, like put pressure on NH, MI and SC to close their primaries so that indys and dems can't put liberal republicans in the forefront of the primary process.

Mitt is free and able to do whatever he wants. He can do the speaking tours, write books, keep the website open for whatever, raise money for conservatives, start up a think tank. The guy can do it all! Running for office or leading the RNC will be too restricting for him.

By investing a significant amount of energy into the culture wars in the next for years (for example, taking a leading position with National Right to Life), the question of his social conservative credentials would be settled for good, more than any other Republican candidate in recent history.

Because he was accused so much of pandering to MI about salvaging the auto industry he should go show his critics how it's done. I have no doubt he could turn their luck around.

1. Stay active with the Republican Party. Make continual calls for action on conservative causes: Strong national defense, border security (Mr President, BUILD this wall!), immigration reform, repeal or reform Sarbanes-Oxley (talk about a brake on the American economy!), conservative nominees for SCOTUS. Stay away from Roe-v-Wade until and unless constitutional SCOTUS is in place to review. Stump. Visit. Talk to us, the little people.

2. Put that considerable brain power to work on climate change. Get both sides of the issue. Get other opinions. If climate change is happening, can we really do anything about it? SHOULD we do anything about it and would a slightly warmer global climate be better for humanity? Would another ice age be preferable? Remember, the law of unintended consequences when it comes to extremely complex systems. There are no experts. Be the anti-Gore. Stop the fear mongering of the UN IPCC.

3. While we're on the topic of the UN, take a look and really see if it still fulfills a useful purpose? Have we grown out of the need of a UN? What is the mission of the UN and is it really worth the US taxpayer expense when there doesn't seem to be any return on the investment? I'm not an isolationist, but lately the UN has become more a farce for evil than good. Or it not straight evil, than downright non-interventionalism in a dangerous world. The UN is a paper tiger. Their building is decrepit and in dire need of repair. Let them build a new building somewhere else, like Geneva or Belgium. Or Senegal.

4. While we're on the topic of the UN, perhaps it's time to reexamine our other treaties like NATO and NAFTA. NATO may have to go the way of SEATO. NAFTA needs to be looked at to see if it's really a benefit to the US. There is no harm in examining, in depth, the treaties to which we're currently obligated.

5. To examine the feasibility of conservative issues, set up or engage with some of the conservative foundations and think tanks currently existing.

6. Be an anti-Soros. If there's a conservative issue that needs promoting, take out that full-page NYT or WSJ advertisement.

7. Engage the bloggers. Get someone on staff to cull through the thousands of webpages to find those issues under discussion. Support independent bloggers.

8. Visit the troops. Listen to them. Sponsor some research that would benefit wounded vets.

9. Go do some target shooting. Learn to properly handle a handgun and a rifle. You don't have to kill anything--just go down to the local range and put in some time shooting paper targets. Sponsor a target shooting range out in some western state. Or, set up a series of ranges nation wide where people of all walks can come and practice the fine art of gun control (hitting what you're aiming at). Who knows, there's probably a way to make a profit at it, too.

4 years is a long ways away and I'm afraid people will forget Mitt, so I wish to offer my 2 cents. Mitt needs to be more public like with speaking engagements and college convocations and talk about conservatism. The issue of conservatism and liberalism is so hot that I believe he would be grabbed up to speak if he was available to that market. Advertise every engagement and convocation on city buses with his name and a huge picture of him so people can associate him with these conservative topics. I really enjoy listening to him speak especially about history, the founding fathers, the constitution, faith and education. The economy would be a fantastic topic to mix in with it and how the they all tie in to each other. Anyway, get him out there! Write a book. A lot of people don't know what conservatism is and than again plaster his face and name on it. Utah loves you Mitt and good luck to Josh; too bad he's not in our district, I'd vote for him.

I personally hope that Mitt doesn't become John McCains vp. I honestly believe that Mitt needs to distance himself from McCain and become a more loyal conservative. I believe McCain and Hillary will be more of the same broken government we have and Obama will be just chaos. Come on conservatives, wake up and stand up for Mitt Romney and groom him for 2012. Let him know what you expect from a conserative president.
